TRAINING, CONSULTATION AND FRONT-LINE PRACTITIONER
Working with adolescents at risk
Training, Consultation and Practice Support
I provide freelance training and consultation for services working with adolescents who go missing, are at risk of exploitation, or present with complex safeguarding needs.
With an MA in Criminology, a BSc in Psychology, criminal behaviour, and frontline experience across custody, prison-based youth work, exploitation, missing episodes, return interviews, and adolescent safeguarding, I support professionals in strengthening practice, building confidence, and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
My background includes work in custodial settings as a custody support worker, as well as experience in missing-person returns and youth offending. This gives me a practical understanding of the pressures faced by frontline teams and the challenges involved in responding effectively to adolescents affected by trauma, exploitation, criminalisation, and repeated missing episodes.
I work with schools, charities, supported accommodation providers, youth justice teams, and local-authority-adjacent services that want to improve safeguarding responses and develop more confident, informed practice with high-risk adolescents.
My approach is grounded, reflective, and practice-focused. I understand that services need support, which is clear, relevant, and directly applicable to real situations. The aim is not simply to deliver information, but to help teams think more effectively about risk, relationships, safeguarding opportunities, and professional response.
SERVICES
Practitioner training
I offer training for professionals working with adolescents at risk. Sessions are available as a 90-minute online session, a half-day session, or a full-day workshop.
Training topics include:
-
Effective Return Home Interviews
-
Recognising and Responding to Child Criminal Exploitation
-
Missing Episodes as Safeguarding Opportunities
-
Working in a Trauma-Informed Way with Adolescents at Risk
Training can support staff to build confidence, improve decision-making, and strengthen the quality of their work with young people who may be vulnerable to exploitation, harm, or repeated missing episodes.
Team consultation and reflective supervision
I offer monthly 90-minute or 2-hour consultation sessions for teams working with high-risk adolescents.
These sessions provide space for reflective discussion, case thinking, and professional development. They are designed to help teams strengthen safeguarding responses, improve confidence in complex work, and think more clearly about adolescents who go missing or are at risk of exploitation.
This service is particularly useful for teams that need regular support with complex cases, professional reflection, and consistent safeguarding practices.
